MIAC Athletes of the Week - November 15, 2022

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for swimming & diving Tuesday. Student-athletes from Gustavus, Hamline, St. Catherine, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors for November 8-14, 2022.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week

George Hubbard registered first-place times of 1:48.21 in the 200-yard freestyle and 50.66 in the 100-yard freestyle at the Saint John's Invitational on 11/12.

MIAC Men's Diving Athlete of the Week

Andrew Jensen helped the Gusties defeat St. Olaf in a dual meet last weekend with top-two finishes in the diving events. Jensen was the top diver off the 3-meter board with a score of 240.50 and placed second in the 1-meter competition with a score of 228.60.


MIAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week

Annie Voss recorded three-lifetime bests over two meets last week, leading the Wildcats to a dual win over Macalester and a quad win over Hamline, Saint Benedict, and Augsburg. Voss recorded a lifetime best split of 1:07.61 in the 100 breaststroke as part of the winning 400 medley relay team on 11/11. Voss then had a fourth-place finish in the 50 freestyle, swimming to a new lifetime best of 25.52. She finished her individual races with a new lifetime best in the 200 breaststroke of 2:27.36, second-fastest in the MIAC this season. Her final event of the evening was the 200 freestyle relay where she had a season best split of 25.09 and her relay team finished third overall. On 11/12, Voss finished a perfect 4-for-4 against Macalester in the tightly-contested dual meet. Voss led off the medley relay to help secure the opening victory for the Wildcats and then recorded wins in the 200 back (2:08.03), 100 backstroke (1:00.41), and 200 individual medley (2:10.69).

Izzy Treanor won on both boards for the second week in a row in the Oles' dual at Gustavus on 11/12. The junior won the 1-meter event with a score of 247.05 and the 3-meter event with a score of 261.90.
