MIAC Athletes of the Week - December 18, 2023

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for basketball on Monday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Hamline, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

These will be the final Athlete of the Week awards of 2023. Awards will resume on January 8, 2024. Any outstanding performances during the holiday break will be eligible for nomination and selection with the first awards of the New Year.

MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Bradley Cimperman
Hamline University

Bradley Cimperman registered a season-high 36 points in an 82-75 victory over UW-River Falls on 12/16. Cimperman shot 11-for-14 (.786) from the field and 5-for-8 (.625) from behind the three-point line in the win.

MIAC Men's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week

Luke Harris averaged 25.5 points, 3.5 assists, 3.5 steals, and 7.5 rebounds from his point guard position in two games for the Knights last week. Harris started the week with a 22-point, seven-rebound, three-assist, one-steal performance in a come-from-behind victory over Northwestern-St. Paul on 12/13. Two days later, Harris improved each of those figures, pouring in 29 points while grabbing eight boards, six steals, and four assists at Bethany Lutheran on 12/15. His career-best 6 steals against Bethany Lutheran were the most by a MIAC player this season and matched the second-highest single-game total by a MIAC player over the last six-plus seasons.


MIAC Women's Basketball Offensive Player of the Week
Kloey Lind
The College of St. Scholastica

Kloey Lind averaged 19.5 points and 7.5 rebounds per game for the Saints in a pair of non-conference wins last week. In a victory against Northland on 12/12, Lind scored 15 points and grabbed four rebounds in just 14 minutes of action. Against UW-Superior on 12/16, Lind led all scorers with 24 points on 9-of-12 shooting (75.0 percent) and finished with 11 rebounds for her second double-double of the season as the Saints captured their third straight win.

MIAC Women's Basketball Defensive Player of the Week
Hope Carlson
The College of St. Scholastica

Hope Carlson logged seven steals and ten rebounds in two Saints victories last week. Carlson tallied five steals and led St. Scholastica with seven rebounds in a victory over Northland on 12/13. Against UW-Superior on 12/16, she had three rebounds, two steals, and scored 10 points off the bench.
