St. Olaf wins MIAC women’s cross country title

NORTHFIELD, Minn. – For the 11th time in program history and the first time since 2021, the St. Olaf Oles are women's cross country champions of the Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC). The Oles placed five runners in the top 12 for a final score of 34 at the St. Olaf Cross Country Course on Saturday. St. Olaf also won the men's race, marking the first time since 2019 that the same institution won both the men's and women's races.

Defending NCAA Division III national champion Carleton placed second with 54 points, followed by St. Scholastica in third with 99. Gustavus totaled 108 points, Bethel had 120, Macalester had 156, and Saint Benedict at 166. Concordia finished at 192, with Hamline at 257, Saint Mary's at 272, St. Catherine at 325, and Augsburg at 380.

Carleton junior Hannah Preisser won the first MIAC individual title of her career with a 6K time of 21:18.9. That time is the fourth-fastest 6K in recorded MIAC women's championship history. Preisser is the first Carleton runner to win the women’s individual title since Amanda Mosborg in 2019.

St. Olaf's Alison Bode (22:04.4) and Lauren Walda (22:08.3) were the next two runners to cross the finish line after Preisser, followed by Carleton's Sophie McManus (22:24.5) in fourth and Gustavus' Molly Liston (22:40.9) in fifth.

More than 150 student-athletes participated in this year's MIAC Women's Championships. The top 15 finishers earned All-Conference recognition, while finishers 16-25 were awarded Honorable Mention. The All-MIAC and Honorable Mention runners were honored at a post-meet awards ceremony, and the Oles were also presented with their MIAC Championship plaque.
