BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) men's basketball teams are set to return to the hardwood for the start of the 2025-26 season.
The regular season is set to tip off on Friday, November 7, and will run through Saturday, February 21. The first conference games of the season are scheduled for Wednesday, December 3. Teams are set to play 16 conference games this season, with one game against every conference opponent and two games against six league foes. As an odd-even year, men's teams will play after women's teams on doubleheader game dates this season.
The top six teams at the end of the regular season will head to the 2026 MIAC Men's Basketball Playoffs. The quarterfinal round is scheduled for Tuesday, February 24, with the semifinals set for Thursday, February 26, and the championship game slated for Saturday, February 28. The winner of the MIAC Playoffs will receive the conference's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Men's Basketball Tournament.

RULE CHANGES
The NCAA Men's Basketball Rules Committee and NCAA Playing Rules Oversight Panel approved several rule changes for the 2025-26 season. The committees approved an amendment to the continuous motion rule to bring NCAA men's basketball more in line with other levels in allowing the conclusion of a pivot or step when attempting to complete the shooting motion on a foul. It was also established that all fouls occurring below the free throw line extended in a team's frontcourt will result in throw-ins at the nearest-designated spot under the basket, while fouls above the free throw line extended will result in throw-ins from the nearest-designated spot at the 28-foot mark. One cosmetic rule was also approved: headbands are permitted with a maximum width of four inches.
MIAC SPORTS NETWORK
The MIAC Sports Network, powered by Hudl, returns as the streaming home of all MIAC-hosted games, events, and championships. The 2026 MIAC Men's Basketball Playoffs will be streamed live on the MIAC Sports Network in a pay-per-view format. Individual playoff contests will be streamed for $10 each, or $25 for a "championship pass" to stream the entire tournament live. On-demand access to playoff games will be available after the NCAA Tournament concludes.
AWARD WATCH
MIAC coaches will vote on the 2025-26 MIAC Men's Basketball All-Conference honors at the conclusion of the regular season. In addition to a 16-player All-MIAC squad, coaches will also vote on individual awards for the MIAC Offensive, Defensive, Rookie, and Coach of the Year.
Throughout the regular season, the MIAC will recognize top individual performances with the MIAC Men's Basketball Offensive and Defensive Players of the Week awards. Athlete of the Week awards will begin on Monday, November 10, and will be announced each Monday following through the end of the regular season. During the week following the MIAC Playoffs, participating coaches will also select a five-player All-Playoff Team to recognize outstanding performances throughout the conference tournament.
