MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Concordia-Moorhead Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson announced that current Augsburg assistant coach Nick Zuchowski has been named the new head coach of the Cobber men's soccer program.
Zuchowski takes over for Jon Hedin, who resigned at the end of the 2025 season, and becomes the ninth head coach in program history.
Zuchowski has been an assistant coach Augsburg for the past three seasons and helped the Auggies reach the Elite 8 in the 2025 NCAA Tournament.
"It's important that as a program we honor the alumni, coaches, and people that have been a part of it by providing an experience that not only sets players up to compete at the highest level but also prepares them for their time beyond the soccer field," Zuchowski said. "I know that Concordia is a great place to do just that. The MIAC is one of the toughest conferences in the country for Division III soccer, and so the opportunity to build a program in a tough environment like that is exciting."
In addition to his coaching stint at Augsburg, Zuchowski also played for the Auggies where he was a 2-time United Soccer Coaches All-Region honoree as well as a 3-time MIAC postseason award winner. Zuchowski is fifth in Augsburg program history in career assists, ninth in total points and 10th in career goals.
"We are excited to welcome Nick as our next head men's soccer coach," Bergeson said. "He brings a strong background as a former standout player and proven ability to develop successful programs as a coach. He has a passion for developing soccer players but also for developing quality young men. His familiarity with our league and commitment to excellence make him a great fit for our program."
While Zuchowski was an assistant coach at Augsburg, he was part of a program that posted a 38-11-14 overall record and only lost three conference games while making the MIAC playoffs in all three seasons.
During his 3-year tenure at Augsburg, Zuchowski coached three United Soccer Coaches All-Americans, 10 All-Region award winners and 14 MIAC All-Conference or All-Conference Honorable Mention performers.
"It's been 15 years since the Cobbers last made the playoffs, so helping the program get back to that point is certainly a goal," Zuchowski added. "Though, I think what I'm looking forward to most is bringing in a winning culture and showing the guys what it means to live with high standards. What it means to sacrifice for your goals and ambitions. So that, when the season comes around, we are prepared. We can either live with the pain of discipline and work, or the pain of regret. I know which one I'll choose every time."
In addition to his high-level success on the field as a player, Zuchowski was also a decorated student-athlete. He was also a United Soccer Coaches Scholar All-American while graduating with a degree in finance and marketing.
Bergeson added that Zuchowski will begin his coaching duties immediately.
