BU's Thorson wins pentathlon title to kick off MIAC Indoor Championships

COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. -- The 2025 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships got underway Thursday at the Donald McNeely Spectrum in Collegeville with the women's pentathlon and the start of the men's heptathlon.

Bethel's Elle Thorson won the pentathlon with a final score of 3387. Thorson finished among the top four in all five events, winning the high jump and placing second in the 60-meter hurdles and shot put. Saint Benedict's Justus Floren was the runner-up in the pentathlon with 3281 points, followed by Concordia's Jenna Kalevik in third with 3224 points.

With three events remaining in the heptathlon, Saint John's Anthony Thurk leads the pack with 2887 points. Thurk won the long jump and high jump competitions and was the runner-up in the shot put on Thursday. SJU teammate Max Lelwica is currently in second place with 2843 points, while St. Olaf's Andrew Cogley is in third with 2608 points. The heptathlon will conclude on Friday morning with the 60-meter hurdles, pole vault, and 1000-meter run.


COMPETITION CONTINUES
The 2025 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships continue in full on Friday. The heptathlon finishes on Friday at 10:00 a.m. Friday's field events start at 4:00 p.m., and track events will follow at 4:30 p.m. Saturday's final session starts with field events at noon and track events an hour later. Saturday's final set of events - the men's and women's 4x400 relay - will begin at 3:55 p.m.

Daily tickets are required to attend the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. All tickets will be sold and purchased online via HomeTown Ticketing. There will not be cash sales at the venue; however, spectators can purchase tickets using a mobile device at any time, including while at the venue. Tickets are available for purchase on the MIAC's HomeTown Ticketing site.
 
Single-day adult tickets will be $12, and student tickets are $3. (Note: additional HomeTown Ticketing convenience and credit card fees will be added during checkout, with estimated totals being $13.70 for adult / $4.43 for student per single-day ticket.) Children ages five and under do not require a ticket. Those eligible for student tickets include individuals currently enrolled in college, high school, middle school, and elementary school. A student ID is required where applicable.
 
Two-day passes will also be available. Two-day adult tickets are $27, and two-day student tickets are $9. (Note: multi-day passes include a required $3 HomeTown Ticket multi-day pass fee; additional convenience and credit card fees will be added during checkout, with estimated totals being $28.12 for adult / $9.58 for student per two-day ticket.)
