COLLEGEVILLE, Minn. - The 2025 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Indoor Track & Field Championships continued on Friday with the conclusion of the men's heptathlon and an action-packed set of prelims and finals at the Donald McNeely Spectrum in Collegeville.
Friday's action began with the remaining events in the men's heptathlon. Saint John's Anthony Thurk claimed the heptathlon title with 4923 total points. Thurk won the long jump, finished second in the high jump, and placed third in both the shot put and 60 meters. Carleton's Soren Kaster took second in the multi-event competition with 4745 points, while St. Olaf's Andrew Cogley placed third with 4558 points.
Among the highlights in the individual events was a trio of Royals earning conference titles in record-breaking fashion. Jayson Ekiyor won the men's 60-meter hurdles, Landen Liu took the men's 60-meter dash crown, and Grant Nelson claimed the win in the men's 400-meter dash. All three set championship meet records in their victories. Saint Mary's first-year Zari Young also left an impression in her first conference championship appearance, winning the women's 60-meter dash in 7.70.

With eleven events scored, Bethel leads in both the men's and women's standings. The Royals posted 102 points in the men's events and 88 in the women's. The final nine events of the meet will be scored on Saturday.

RECORD BREAKERS
Three championship records and four facility records were broken on Friday:
Augsburg's Allison Hookom set a new facility record in the women's 400 meters with a time of 57.01.
Bethel's Landen Liu surpassed his own championship mark in the men's 60 meters by .02 seconds with a time of 6.74 on Friday.
Bethel's Jayson Ekiyor recorded the first sub-eight-second 60-meter hurdles time in MIAC Championship history with a 7.97.
Bethel's Grant Nelson set a new championship record in the men's 400 meters with a time of 48.29, surpassing teammate Jacob Parent's previous mark of 48.58. Nelson's time is also a new facility record.
Saint John's distance medley relay team posted a new facillity record with a time of 10:17.48.
Saint John's Jackson McDowell established a new facility record in the high jump with a leap of 2.11 meters (6' 11").
COMPETITION CONTINUES
The 2025 MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships will conclude on Saturday. The meet's final session starts with field events at noon. Track events will begin at 1:00 p.m.

Daily tickets are required to attend the MIAC Indoor Track & Field Championships. All tickets will be sold and purchased online via HomeTown Ticketing. There will not be cash sales at the venue; however, spectators can purchase tickets using a mobile device at any time, including while at the venue. Tickets are available for purchase on the MIAC's HomeTown Ticketing site.
Adult tickets are $12, and student tickets are $3. (Note: additional HomeTown Ticketing convenience and credit card fees will be added during checkout, with estimated totals being $13.70 for adult / $4.43 for student per single-day ticket.) Children ages five and under do not require a ticket. Those eligible for student tickets include individuals currently enrolled in college, high school, middle school, and elementary school. A student ID is required where applicable.

HANDING OUT THE HARDWARE
The top three finishers in each event automatically earn All-Conference honors, and the 4th-through-6th place finishers will receive Honorable Mention distinction. All-Conference honorees are listed below. Coaches will vote on individual awards following the meet, and the recipients will be announced next week.
