BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for golf and outdoor track & field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Bethel, Gustavus, Hamline, St. Catherine, and St. Olaf claimed the Conference's weekly honors.
The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the spring season, team sports (baseball, softball, and tennis) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (golf and outdoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Golf Athlete of the Week

Isaac Schmidt won the Augsburg Spring Invitational by four strokes with a total of 146 (+2) on 4/14-15. Schmidt shot an even-par 72 in the first round and a +2 74 in round two for the first tournament victory of his collegiate career.
MIAC Women's Golf Athlete of the Week

Kyra Venne claimed medalist honors at the Kathy Niepagen Spring Fling on 4/12-13 with a two-round score of 147 (+3). Venne carded three birdies in her opening round 72 before adding two more birdies in a second-round 75 to clear the field by three shots and help the Wildcats to a team victory in a meet that featured four teams ranked among Scoreboard's top 30 in NCAA Division III and six ranked among the top 50.

Grant Nelson won the 400-meter dash at the Bethel Invitational on 4/12 with a personal-best time of 46.70. That mark is the second-fastest in NCAA Division III this season. Nelson also helped the Royals' 4x400-meter relay team to a second-place finish - 0.16 seconds behind first-place UW-La Crosse - with the 12th-fastest 4x400 time in D-III history at 3:08.42.

Austin Schloeder won the pole vault at the Bethel Invitational on 4/12 with a personal-record clearance of 4.93 (16' 2"). The vault leads the MIAC, ranks ninth in NCAA Division III, and is the second-best in program history.

Megan Geraets moved into third place on the NCAA Division III performance list in the 200-meter, setting the facility and meet records with a time of 24.19 at the Bethel Invitational on 4/12. Geraets also won the long jump with a mark of 5.91 meters (19' 4.75"), which would have represented a new program record and ranked sixth in NCAA Division III were it not for a 4.3 wind reading.

Kelley Brennan set a facility and meet record at the Bethel Invitational on 4/12 in the discus with a heave of 43.35 meters (142' 3"), good for 24th in NCAA Division III this season. Brennan also set a personal-best mark in the hammer throw with a distance of 51.01 meters (167' 4"). That mark ranks 16th in D-III this spring.
