BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – The 2025 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Tennis Playoffs got underway with a pair of quarterfinal matches on Wednesday afternoon. No. 3 Bethel defeated No. 6 St. Scholastica, 4-0, while No. 4 St. Olaf outlasted No. 5 St. Catherine, 4-3, to move on to Friday's semifinal round.

Bethel cruised to a 4-0 win over St. Scholastica to open the MIAC Women's Tennis Playoffs on Wednesday. After securing wins at the second and third doubles positions, the Royals got singles victories from No. 3 Claire Keller (6-0, 6-2), No. 4 Julia Baber (6-0, 6-1), and No. 6 Courtney Nuest-Dewall (6-1, 6-0) to punch a ticket to the semifinals for the eighth consecutive postseason.

The Royals will head to Northfield on Friday for a matchup against No. 2 Carleton. The Knights earned an 8-1 win in the regular season meeting on April 5 and hold a 2-0 advantage over Bethel all-time in the MIAC Playoffs. Bethel and Carleton have not squared off in the postseason since the Knights topped the Royals in the 2019 MIAC Playoff Championship. Match time for Friday's semifinal contest is tentatively scheduled for 3:30 p.m. on the Pat Lamb Tennis Courts at Carleton.

St. Olaf earned a berth in the MIAC semifinals for the second time in the last three seasons with a 4-3 victory over St. Catherine on Wednesday. The match was decided at the No. 5 singles spot, where Sarah Clark narrowly defeated Liliana Holmberg, 6-7 (6-8), 6-4, 7-6 (7-0). St. Kate's took two of three doubles matches to earn the first point of the afternoon and then came away with wins at the No. 1 and No. 6 singles spots. St. Olaf picked up singles wins at the second through fifth positions to seal the win.

With the victory, the Oles are set for a rematch with top-seeded Gustavus on Friday afternoon. The Gusties won the regular season matchup with St. Olaf, 9-0, on April 13. Gustavus is 5-0 against St. Olaf in playoff matchups, though the two programs have not met in the postseason since 2015. Match time is tentatively set for 3:30 p.m. in St. Peter on Friday.

The two semifinal winners will meet Saturday on the home court of the highest remaining seed to determine the 2025 MIAC Women's Tennis Playoff Champion. Match dates, times, and locations are subject to change due to weather.
