News & Links 5/18/2025 9:00:00 AM MIAC teams prep for another week of NCAA Championship competition BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Another week of spring NCAA Championship competition awaits Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) teams. Softball Saint Mary's (42-4) secured the second 40-win season in program history on its way to a regional championship in the NCAA Division III Softball Tournament. The Cardinals took care of Husson, 5-2, before coming out on top in what turned out to be a best-of-three series against Simpson. SMU defeated the Storm, 3-1, on Friday to advance to the regional championship, where Simpson was able to force a second game in the double-elimination bracket with a 3-2 win on Saturday. Saint Mary's rallied back with a fury in the deciding matchup with a 10-2 win to punch a ticket to the Super Regionals. The Cardinals will host UW-Whitewater (38-6) in the best-of-three Super Regional series starting on Thursday, May 22, to determine which team will head to the College World Series in Bloomington, Illinois, next week. | NCAA Softball Home | Outdoor Track & Field The NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Track & Field Committee announced the accepted entries for the 2025 NCAA Division III Men's and Women's Outdoor Track & Field Championships over the weekend. Thirty-five MIAC student-athletes are listed among the qualifiers for this year's NCAA Championships. For each individual event contested, including the decathlon and heptathlon, the top 22 declared student-athletes were accepted into the competition. For each relay event contested, the top 16 declared relay teams, one per institution, were accepted into the competition. The championships run from Thursday, May 22, to Saturday, May 24, at the Spire Institute in Geneva, Ohio. Bethel's Will Karkoc and Saint John's Andrew Boemer have also been selected to compete as individuals, the NCAA announced on Monday afternoon. A total of 225 participants will compete at the 2025 championships. Thirty-four conferences were awarded automatic qualification for the championships. The final nine berths were at-large selections. Gustavus first-year Karina Elvestrom and St. Catherine graduate student Kelsey Dorr were among 32 players selected for the Women's Singles Championships, while Elvestrom and doubles partner Kaya DeBruijn were one of the 16 duos picked for the Women's Doubles Championships.
