GREENSBORO, N.C. – Rising senior Mason Buck of the St. Olaf College baseball team was honored on the 2025 American Baseball Coaches Association (ABCA) NCAA Division III Region 9 All-Defensive Team, as announced on Thursday.
Buck was chosen as the top defensive shortstop in the region in a vote by ABCA members and became St. Olaf's first ABCA All-Defensive Team honoree in the third year of the accolade. Buck was the lone Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) honoree on the nine-member team in Region 9.
In his junior season, Buck put together the best defensive season by a shortstop in program history, committing just one error in 136 chances for a fielding percentage of .993. The Afton native recorded 82 assists and 53 putouts while being part of 24 double plays during a season that also saw Buck earn D3baseball.com Third Team All-Region 9, Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Max Molock Co-Player of the Year, and All-MIAC honors. His play helped St. Olaf post the fifth-highest team fielding percentage (.976) in NCAA Division III this season.
