Seedborg steps down as Concordia softball coach

MOORHEAD, Minn. -- Annika Seedborg announced that she is stepping down as head coach of the Concordia softball program in order to return to California and be closer to her family.

"I'm deeply grateful for the opportunity to have led the Cobber softball program and for the experiences it provided," Seedborg said. "Coaching here has been an important part of my growth, and I'm excited to return home and begin the next chapter."

Seedborg led the biggest 1-year turnaround in program history in her first season as head coach in 2025. She took over a team that went 5-33 in 2024 and was 0-22 in conference play and guided the Cobbers to a 20-18 overall mark with an 8-14 mark in the MIAC which narrowly missed out on the playoffs.

The 20-win season in 2025 marked only the fifth time in school history that Concordia had won at least 20 games in a single season.

"As Annika returns to California to be closer to family and pursue new coaching opportunities, we thank her for the work to elevate our softball program and wish her the very best," Concordia Athletic Director Rachel Bergeson stated.

Seedborg was named the head coach for the Cobber softball program in the summer of 2024. She became the first full-time head coach for softball in the history of Concordia athletics after serving as an assistant coach for the 2024 season.

Before coming to Concordia, Seedborg was the assistant coach at Valley City State for the 2022 and 2023 seasons.

Seedborg played collegiately at Mayville State University from 2019-2022. She earned NorthStar All-Conference Honors in 2019. She was also captain for the Comets for multiple seasons.

Seedborg graduated from Mayville State in 2022 with a Bachelor's Degree in Applied Psychology.
