MIAC Athletes of the Week - January 27, 2026

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its Athlete of the Week award winners for swimming & diving and indoor track & field on Tuesday. Student-athletes from Carleton, Saint Benedict, Saint John's, St. Olaf, and St. Scholastica claimed the Conference's weekly honors.

The MIAC Athlete of the Week awards are nominated by the Conference's sports information directors and selected by MIAC staff. Throughout the winter season, team sports (basketball and hockey) Athletes of the Week will be recognized on Monday afternoons, with individual sports (swimming & diving and indoor track & field) announced on Tuesday afternoons. The winners of the latest Athlete of the Week awards are listed below, along with details on their outstanding performances.

MIAC Men's Swimming Athlete of the Week
Brayden Slavik
Saint John's University

Sr.
Green Isle, Minn. / Chaska

Brayden Slavik won three individual events for the second straight week, including a pool-record time of 16:10.20 in the 1,650-yard freestyle, in the Johnnies' 157-143 home win over Carleton on 1/24. The previous pool record of 16:23.13 had stood since 2000. Slavik also finished first in the 200-yard backstroke (1:56.32) and 200-yard individual medley (1:57.65). In addition to his individual wins, Slavik swam the final leg of the Johnnies' first-place, 200-yard freestyle relay that won in 1:26.91.

MIAC Men's Diving Athlete of the Week
Cody Watts
Saint John's University

St. Cloud, Minn. / St. Cloud Tech

Cody Watts won the 1- and 3-meter diving events in the Johnnies' dual with Carleton on 1/24. Watts scored 273.70 off the 1-meter board and 238.65 in the 3-meter competition.


MIAC Women's Swimming Athlete of the Week
Haley Zelen
College of Saint Benedict

Shakopee, Minn. / Shakopee

Haley Zelen picked up two individual wins, a pair relay wins, and three pool records in the Bennies' dual meet with Carleton on 1/24. Zelen set a new pool record in the 100 freestyle with a time of 51.82 before authoring another pool-best with a time of 1:05.16 in the 100 breaststroke. Zelen was also part of the 200 medley relay team that set a new pool record of 1:48.35, in addition to helping CSB to a win in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:39.71.

MIAC Women's Diving Athlete of the Week
Hailey Westrup
Carleton College

Hailey Westrup swept the diving events in the Knights' dual meet victory over Saint Benedict on 1/24. Westrup finished with scores of 245.00 in the 1-meter and 270.10 in the 3-meter competitions.


MIAC Men's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Noah Kubicek
The College of St. Scholastica

Owatonna, Minn. / Owatonna

Noah Kubicek picked up a pair of victories at the CSB/SJU Alumni Meet on 1/24. Kubicek set meet and program records in the 400 meters with a time of 49.37 to rank him 18th among NCAA Division III sprinters in the event this season. He also won the 200 meters with a time of 22.70.

Trent Beseth
The College of St. Scholastica

Stanchfield, Minn. / Cambridge-Isanti

Trent Beseth set new meet and facility records at the CSB/SJU Alumni Meet on 1/24 with a shot put distance of 17.77 meters (58' 3.75"). His throw was the second-longest in NCAA Division III this season, behind only his 18.12-meter (59' 5.5") heave at the CSS Opener last December.


MIAC Women's Indoor Track Athlete of the Week
Isabel Wyatt
St. Olaf College

Sr.
Minneapolis, Minn. / Southwest

Isabel Wyatt ran the seventh-fastest 800-meter time in NCAA Division III this season by crossing the finish line in 2:17.13 at the Vanessa Seljeskog Classic on 1/24. Wyatt placed second overall in the event and first among D-III runners.


MIAC Women's Indoor Field Athlete of the Week
Ella Stritesky
The College of St. Scholastica

Rogers, Minn. / Rogers

Ella Stritesky won the weight throw with a mark of 16.54 meters (54' 3.25") at the CSB/SJU Alumni Meet on 124. That mark is the fourth-best in CSS program history and ranks 12th in NCAA Division III this season.
