Royals' Matthew Carlsen named Academic All-American

ARDEN HILLS, Minn. – Junior outfielder Matthew Carlsen has been named to the baseball First Team Academic All-America® team, announced by the College Sports Communicators Wednesday afternoon.
 
Carlsen boasts a 4.00 GPA in mechanical engineering and is BU's 28th all-time selection. He joins Micahel Bohlke (2018, second team) and Kirby Carr (2007 third team) as BU baseball's Academic All-America all-time selections. He was also recently named to the Academic All-District team in May.
 
On the field, he is a two-time All-Region honoree after hitting .388 for the year with a a .562 slugging percentage and .466 on-base percentage. Starting in all 44 games for the Royals he tallied a single-season record 178 at bats while being fourth in program history with 49 runs scored.  He had the second most hits in a season with 69. He also tallied 33 RBIs, 15 doubles, five triples and two home runs.
 
On the base paths he was 12-of-13 in stolen bases and defensively he held a .990 fielding percentage.
