ST. PAUL, Minn. - Macalester College junior Arlo Heitler (Hastings, N.Y./Hastings) will be competing in the 400 meters at the Canadian Track & Field Olympic Trials on Friday, June 28 in Montreal. The semifinal heats of the men's 400 are scheduled to begin at 3:56 p.m. Central time at the Claude-Robillard Sports Complex. The live stream can be found here.

This spring Heitler qualified for the NCAA Division III Outdoor Track & Field Championships in the 400 and placed 16th to earn All-America second team honors. He qualified by running a school-record time of 47.30 to place second at the MIAC Outdoor Championships. That time not only earned Heitler an invitation to the Canadian Olympic Trials but gave him a bye into the semifinal rounds on Friday.

The Olympic Trials are a fitting continuation of the track season for Heitler, who broke multiple school records indoors and outdoors. Along with his outdoor record in the 400, he also broke the school record in the 200 meters at the MIAC Outdoor Championships with a time of 21.61 to finish sixth. During the indoor season, he set a new school mark in the 60 meters of 7.03.
