BLOOMINGTON, Minn. - The final weekend of regular season competition has arrived for Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) swimming & diving teams. Teams will be in action at the University of Minnesota's First Chance Meet in Minneapolis and Carleton's annual Dodd Road Diving Invite in Northfield this weekend before resting up for the 2025 MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships scheduled for February 19-22 at the Jean K. Freeman Acquatic Center in Minneapolis.
CHAMPIONSHIP TICKETS ON SALE
Fans planning to attend the 2025 MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships can purchase their seats in advance, as all tickets will once again be sold and purchased online via HomeTown Ticketing. There will not be cash sales at the venue; however, spectators can purchase tickets using a mobile device at any time, including while at the venue. Tickets are on sale now via the MIAC's HomeTown Ticketing site.
"All-session" tickets will grant admission to all seven sessions of the Championships. Adult passes are $73 and student passes are $31. (Note: $3 HomeTown Ticketing fee included; additional convenience and credit card fees will be added during checkout.) Children ages five and under do not require a ticket. Those eligible for student tickets include individuals currently enrolled in college, high school, middle school, and elementary school. Student ID is required where applicable.
Single-session tickets are also available for purchase online only. Single-session adult tickets are $12 each, while student tickets are $6. (Note: additional HomeTown Ticketing convenience and credit card fees will be added during checkout). Children ages five and under do not require a ticket.
The 2025 MIAC Swimming & Diving Championships will officially get underway on Wednesday, February 19, with the first session beginning at 6:00 p.m. Fans unable to attend the championships in person will be able to stream the event live on YouTube through the University of Minnesota's streaming services.
NATIONAL NOTABLES
Carleton first-year Nina Schwab (Piedmont, Calif.) is nationally ranked in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Schwab ranks ninth in NCAA Division III off the 1-meter board (437.50) and 13th off the 3-meter board (415.60). Both scores were recorded at the Knights' home Cows, Colleges, and Contentment meet on 10/26.
Carleton sophomore Hailey Westrup (Sartell, Minn.) is nationally ranked in both the 1-meter and 3-meter diving events. Westrup ranks 20th in the 1-meter competition (386.10) and 26th in the 3-meter competition (368.60). Both scores were recorded at the Knights' home Cows, Colleges, and Contentment meet on 10/26.
Gustavus' 400 freestyle relay team of first-year Mia Trifilette-Simons (St. Paul, Minn. | Como Park), sophomore Stella Anderson Moye (Inver Grove Heights, Minn. | Simley), senior Marit Isaacson (St. Paul, Minn. | Central), and first-year Geneva Fackler (Plymouth, Minn. | Wayzata) touched the wall in 3:35.42 at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on 12/6-7/24. The time ranks 43rd in NCAA Division III this season.
Gustavus' 800 freestyle relay team of first-year Geneva Fackler (Plymouth, Minn. | Wayzata), sophomore Stella Anderson Moye (Inver Grove Heights, Minn. | Simley), first-year Sommer Krause (Farmington, Minn.), and senior Marit Isaacson (St. Paul, Minn. | Central) finished in 7:51.96 at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on 12/6-7/24. The time ranks 30th in NCAA Division III this season.
Gustavus senior Marit Isaacson (St. Paul, Minn. | Central) holds the 11th-fastest NCAA Division III time in the 100 individual medley this season at 59.26. Isaacson achieved the time at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on 12/6-7/24.
Gustavus sophomore Erin Hall (Bloomington, Minn. | Jefferson) scored 329.25 points on the 1-meter board in the Gusties' dual meet with Saint Benedict on 2/1, good for 42nd in NCAA Division III this season. Her score of 359.60 ranks 30th in Division III.
Gustavus junior Gabriella Stout (Delano, Minn.) scored 395.55 off the 1-meter board in the Gusties' dual meet with Saint Benedict on 2/1. The score ranks 17th in NCAA Division III this season. Her score of 389.45 off the 3-meter board ranks 19th in D-III.
Gustavus sophomore Jessica Pagelkopf (Esko, Minn. | Lincoln) scored 324.30 off the 1-meter board in the Gusties' dual meet with Saint Benedict on 2/1. The score ranks 46th in NCAA Division III this season.
Macalester's 800 freestyle relay team of senior Natalie Pollock (Madison, Wis. | West), first-year Maya Tellez (Woodbury, Minn.), first-year Amalia Shields (Madison, Wis. | West), and senior Skye Schmit (Stillwater, Minn.) ranks 39th in NCAA Division III this season with a time of 7:56.26, recorded at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on 12/6-7/24.
Macalester senior Kate Yehle (Madison, Wis. | Memorial) scored 345.75 points off the 3-meter board in the Scots' dual with Grinnell on 1/25, good for the 20th-best six-dive score in Division III this season.
Saint Benedict junior Sabrina Buffetta (Brainerd, Minn.) scored 314.30 points off the 1-meter board in the Bennies' dual meet with Gustavus on 2/1. The score ranks 48th in NCAA Division III this season. Her 3-meter score of 307.95 ranks 43rd in D-III.
Saint Benedict junior Mikayla Haskamp (Sauk Centre, Minn.) recorded a score of 339.10 off the 1-meter board in the Bennies' dual meet with Gustavus on 2/1. The score ranks 35th in NCAA Division III this season. Her score of 321.00 off the 3-meter board ranks 37th in D-III.
Saint Benedict sophomore Ella Kowalczyk (Minneapolis, Minn. | Southwest) registered a score of 343.05 off the 1-meter board in the Bennies' dual meet with Gustavus on 2/1. The score ranks 33rd in NCAA Division III this season. Her score of 379.75 off the 3-meter board ranks 23rd in D-III.
Saint Benedict first-year Emma Netland (Moorhead, Minn.) tallied a score of 317.70 off the 1-meter board in the Bennies' dual meet with Gustavus on 2/1. The score ranks 47th in NCAA Division III this season. Her 3-meter score of 314.60 is good for 39th in the country.
St. Catherine's 800 freestyle relay team of junior Ella Hochstetler (Coralville, Iowa | West), junior Olivia Weil (Cedarburg, Wis.), sophomore Jordyn Grotbo (St. Bonifacius, Minn. | Waconia), and senior Emma Svendsen (Mead, Colo.) ranks 49th in NCAA Division III this season with a time of 7:59.47, recorded at the WildBear Invitational on 11/21-23/24.
St. Olaf's 400 medley relay team of first-year Olivia Small (Wauwatosa, Wis. | East), sophomore Samantha Sylvester (Rogers, Minn.), first-year McKenna Hultgren (Lakeville, Minn. | North), and senior Ellen Varley (Northfield, Minn.) finished in 3:57.67 at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on 12/6-7/24. The time ranks 43rd in NCAA Division III this season.
St. Olaf first-year Emma Haines (Boerne, Texas | Champion) scored 326.15 points off the 1-meter board at the Cows, Colleges, and Contentment meet on 10/26. The score ranks 45th in NCAA Division III this season.
St. Olaf first-year Erica Johnson (Alexandria, Minn.) scored 309.50 points off the 1-meter board at the Cows, Colleges, and Contentment meet on 10/26. The score ranks 49th in NCAA Division III this season. Her 3-meter score of 333.85 ranks 33rd in D-III.
St. Olaf first-year Olivia Small (Wauwatosa, Wis. | East) swam the 100 back in 57.20 at the Roger Ahlman Invitational on 12/6-7/24, good for the 46th-fastest time in NCAA Division III this season. Her 200 back time of 2:04.55 at the same meet ranks 42nd in the nation.
AROUND THE MIAC
Carleton first-year Nina Schwab (Piedmont, Calif.) broke two program and two Thorpe Pool records as she swept the diving competitions in the Knights' dual with St. Olaf on 2/1. On the 1-meter board, Schwab tallied a six-dive score of 291.25, bettering the program and pool records she had set seven days earlier. When the action moved to the higher height, she totaled 329.25 points, surpassing the previous six-dive program and pool record of 317.10 that had stood since 2002.
Concordia sophomore Callie Metsala (Princeton, Minn.) swam a 2:38.31 in the 200-yard breaststroke at the Cobbers' dual meet with Division II Mary on 1/25. It was her first time swimming the event this season, and her time was six seconds faster than the second-place finisher. Metsala also finished second in the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.67.
Gustavus sophomore Stella Anderson Moye (Inver Grove Heights, Minn. | Simley) took first in three events in the Gusties' 167-133 dual victory over Carleton on 1/17. Anderson Moye won the 200 freestyle in 2:00.91, the 100 freestyle in 55.44, and was a part of the winning 200 freestyle relay that took first in 1:40.97. She added a second-place finish in the 500 freestyle in 5:32.40.
Hamline senior Sila Yurttas (Shoreview, Minn. | Mounds View) claimed the 100-yard breaststroke (1:10.69), 200-yard breaststroke (2:33.84), and 100-yard butterfly (1:04.24) titles at the Piper Red Invite on 2/1. She also swam the third leg of the Pipers' 200 freestyle relay team that placed second in 1:49.12.
Macalester senior Caroline Chapon (Evanston, Ill.) won three individual events and swam on a victorious relay to help the Scots defeat Grinnell in a dual meet on 1/25. Chapon opened the meet by anchoring the Scots' 200-yard medley relay team (1:50.78) to a win with a split of 24.78 in the 50 freestyle. In the individual events, Chapon captured the 50-yard freestyle in 25.09, won the 100-yard freestyle in 55.65, and narrowly missed a school record in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of 2:10.93, 0.33 seconds off the program standard.
Saint Benedict junior Megan Bartels (Highlands Ranch, Colo.) captured a pair of breaststroke titles in the Bennies' dual with Gustavus on 2/1. Bartels won the 100 breaststroke in 1:10.40 and the 200 breaststroke in 2:35.26. She was also part of the second-place 200-medley relay that clocked in at 1:52.79.
St. Catherine junior Ella Hochstetler (Coralville, Iowa | West) won the 50 free (25.28) and 200 back (2:12.09) in a dual meet with Division II Concordia-St. Paul on 1/25. Hochstetler also placed second in the 200 free (2:04.17) and helped the Wildcats to a second-place finish in the 200 freestyle relay (1:43.39).
St. Olaf first-year Olivia Small (Wauwatosa, Wis. | East) broke a pair of Thorpe Pool records in the Oles' dual at Carleton on 2/1. Small led off the Oles' 400-yard medley relay that broke the pool record in 4:02.40 with a split of 58.64 in the 100-yard backstroke. Small's 100-back time represented a new pool record as well. Small also won the 50-yard backstroke (27.51) and 200-yard backstroke (2:11.26) while placing third in the 50-yard butterfly (27.85).
