MIAC Multis underway in Northfield

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The 2026 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Outdoor Track and Field Championships got underway on Thursday afternoon at Carleton College with the women's heptathlon and men's decathlon.

Midway through the multi-event competition, Bailey Evans of Saint John's leads the men's decathlon with 3,693 points, while Concordia teammates Kaili Malvey and Lauren Pearson are tied atop the women's heptathlon leaderboard with 2,784 points each.

Men's competitors participated in the 100-meter dash, long jump, shot put, high jump, and 400-meter dash on Thursday, while women's entrants competed in the 100-meter hurdles, high jump, shot put, and 200-meter dash.


MULTI-EVENT RESULTS |

Evans placed first in four of the day's five decathlon events to take a 380-point lead into Friday. Connor McCormick of Gustavus currently ranks second in total decathlon points with 3,313, and Carleton's Soren Kaster is in third with 3,237 points. St. Olaf's Claire Stein finished first in two of the four women's heptathlon events on Thursday, and sits just 60 points behind Malvey and Pearson for first place overall.

The multi-event championships will continue on Friday, with the men's decathlon beginning at 10:30 a.m. and the women's heptathlon starting at 12:30 p.m. The rest of the 2026 MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championship events will take place next Friday and Saturday, May 8-9, at St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota.
