MIAC champions crowned in decathlon and heptathlon competitions on Friday

NORTHFIELD, Minn. -- The annual Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) multi-event competitions are in the books, and after two intense days of action, St. Olaf's Claire Stein and Saint John's Bailey Evans earned conference championships in the heptathlon and decathlon, respectively.

Stein won the 100-meter hurdles (14.83), 200-meter dash (25.63), and long jump (5.42m), and placed second in the 800-meter run (2:26.13) to earn the heptathlon title with 4,604 total points. Concordia's Lauren Pearson placed second with 4,511 points, while Cobber teammate Kaili Malvey placed third with 4,502 points.  
 
In the decathlon, Evans collected wins in the 100-meter dash (10.77), long jump (6.63m), shot put (13.44m), high jump (1.86m), and discus (42.31m) on his way to the individual conference title. Gustavus' Connor McCormick placed second overall with 6,519 points, while Carleton's Soren Kaster took third with 6,351 points.
 
The conclusion of the multi-event competitions signals the beginning of the second half of the Outdoor Championships, which will take place next Friday and Saturday, May 8-9, at St. Olaf College in Northfield. The full schedule of events for next week's Outdoor Championships can be found here.
 
Daily tickets will be required to attend the MIAC Outdoor Track & Field Championships. All tickets will be sold and purchased online via HomeTown Ticketing. There will not be cash sales at the venue; however, spectators can purchase tickets using a mobile device at any time, including while at the venue. Tickets are available for purchase on the MIAC's HomeTown Ticketing site.
 
Single-day adult tickets will be $13, and student tickets are $4. (Note: additional HomeTown Ticketing convenience and credit card fees will be added during checkout, with estimated totals being $13.70 for adult / $4.43 for student per single-day ticket.) Children ages five and under do not require a ticket. Those eligible for student tickets include individuals currently enrolled in college, high school, middle school, and elementary school. Student ID is required where applicable.
 
Official championship apparel is available for online purchase via the MIAC Shop powered by UNRestricted MKTG. The online MIAC Shop features officially licensed short-sleeve t-shirts, long-sleeve t-shirts, hooded sweatshirts, tank tops, and shorts to commemorate the 2026 men's and women's conference championship meets. Respective team champion apparel will be added and available for purchase shortly after the meet.
