MIAC announces 2024-25 Swimming & Diving All-Conference awards

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. -- The Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) announced its annual Men's and Women's Swimming & Diving All-Conference awards on Monday.

The top three finishers in each event at the 2025 MIAC Swimming and Diving Championships received All-Conference honors, while individual finishers 4-6 and the fourth-place relay team earned honorable mention distinction. The conference also announced its individual award recipients for Men's and Women's Swimmers, Divers, Rookies, and Head Coaches of the Year.

Gustavus first-year Geneva Fackler was celebrated as both the Women's Swimmer of the Year and the Women's Rookie of the Year after leading all women's swimmers in points scored in individual events at the meet, while Carleton teammates Nina Schwab and Hailey Westrup shared Women's Diver of the Year honors upon winning the 1- and 3-meter competitions, respectively.

On the men's side, Gustavus senior Peyton Richardson and Saint John's junior Brayden Slavik were named Men's Co-Swimmers of the Year after tying for the most points in individual swimming events. Carleton junior Hans Anderson earned Men's Diver of the Year honors after claiming conference titles off both the 1- and 3-meter boards, and first-years Jacob Robischon of Gustavus and Kean Pajarillaga of Macalester shared Men's Rookie of the Year honors.

Gustavus head coach Jon Carlson was celebrated by his peers with Women's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year while Saint John's head coach Ben Gill was honored as the Men's Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year.

Fackler (Fy. | Plymouth, Minn. | Wayzata) racked up wins in the 200, 500, and 1650 freestyle races at the MIAC Championships. She also helped the Gusties to victory in the 200 and 800 freestyle relays. Fackler is the Gusties' first MIAC Women's Swimmer of the Year in a decade, the second MIAC athlete to win both Rookie and Swimmer of the Year in a career, and the first - women's or men's - to receive both honors in the same season.

Schwab (Fy. | Piedmont, Calif.) and Westrup (So. | Sartell, Minn.) became the first Carleton divers since 2002 to receive Diver of the Year honors. Westrup scored 489.30 points to win the 3-meter diving competition and finished second off the 1-meter board, while Schwab set a new 1-meter meet record with a score of 475.40 and was the runner-up to Westrup in the 3-meter competition.

Richardson (Sr. | Crystal Lake, Ill. | Prairie Ridge) received Co-Swimmer of the Year honors for the second straight season after claiming individual conference titles in the 100 fly, 200 fly, and 200 IM, plus one more MIAC championship as a member of the Gusties' 400 medley relay team. This is the sixth consecutive season that at least one Gustie has been named Men's Swimmer of the Year.

Slavik (Jr. | Green Isle, Minn. | Chaska) received Co-Swimmer of the Year distinction after collecting MIAC championships in the 500 free, 1650 free, and 400 IM. His time of 15:32.98 in the 1650 set a new all-time MIAC record. Slavik also helped the Johnnies to a conference title in the 800 free relay. He is the first Johnnie to receive MIAC Swimmer of the Year honors since 2012.

Anderson (Jr. | Watertown, Minn. | Watertown-Mayer) received Men's Diver of the Year honors after sweeping the 1- and 3-meter competitions at the 2025 MIAC Championships. Anderson topped 500 points on both boards, becoming the first Knight to win Men's Diver of the Year since 2011.

Pajarillaga (Fy. | Saipan, Marianas Pacific | Grace Christian Academy) was voted Men's Co-Rookie of the Year after collecting the MIAC championship in the 200 back at his debut conference meet. The first-year also earned a trio of All-Conference honors as a relay participant. He is Macalester's second Rookie of the Year honoree in the last three swimming & diving seasons (Skye Schmit, 2023) and the first recipient from the Scots' men's program.

Robischon (Fy. | Sauk Centre, Minn.) helped the Gusties to victory in the 200 medley relay and was the runner-up in the 200 fly before being voted by MIAC coaches as the Men's Co-Rookie of the Year. Robischon joins teammate Logan Cyr (2024) as Men's Rookie of the Year recipients from Gustavus.

Gill (6th season) was recognized by his peers with Men's Coach of the Year honors after guiding the Johnnies to a runner-up finish at the 2025 MIAC Championships. Gill's SJU squad claimed six individual titles - including all five freestyle events - along with three of the five relay races. He is the first Saint John's coach to be celebrated with the honor since Bill Saxton in 2016.

Carlson (35th season) received Women's Coach of the Year honors for the fifth time since 2002 after leading the Gustavus women to a second consecutive MIAC championship. The Gusties earned four individual titles and a pair of relay crowns on their way to a 20-point margin of victory. Carlson is now a 12-time MIAC Swimming & Diving Coach of the Year recipient with seven selections as a men's coach and five as a women's coach, in addition to ten such honors as the head women's tennis coach at Gustavus.
