Carleton leads heading into final round of MIAC Women's Golf Championships

EDINA, Minn. – After a mid-afternoon weather delay and a second round that finished just before sundown, Carleton will now enter the final day of competition at the 2025 Minnesota Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (MIAC) Women's Golf Championships on Monday with a 20-shot lead after carding rounds of 292 and 298 through the first two days of the conference tournament.

The Knights' 36-hole total of 590 shattered the previous conference mark of 602, set by the 2018 Carleton squad. Carleton leads the team standings at +14 for the tournament, followed by Macalester in second place at +34, and Saint Benedict sliding into third at +62. St. Catherine (+67) is in fourth after two rounds, followed by Gustavus (+70), Bethel (+73), St. Olaf (+94), Concordia (+119), St. Scholastica (+226), and Augsburg (+339).

One day after setting a new championship record with a 3-under par 69 in round one, Carleton senior Carter Sichol matched that mark with another 3-under-par 69 in round two. Sichol is now 6-under-par for the tournament. Carleton first-year Kate Yi and Macalester senior Bailey Lengfelder continued their stalemate for second place with matching 74s in the second round, giving each a two-round score of 145 (+1).

TOURNAMENT CONCLUDES ON MONDAY
The three-day, 54-hole MIAC Women's Golf Championships conclude on Monday. Tee times are set to begin at 9:00 AM. Spectators are welcome to attend the 2025 MIAC Women's Golf Championships at Braemar Golf Course and must follow all local and spectator rules. Per course directive, spectator carts are available to individuals with valid handicap stickers only.

The tournament's winner will earn the conference's automatic bid to the 2026 NCAA Division III Women's Golf Championships. The top 10 individual finishers will be named to the MIAC All-Championship team and automatically qualify for the 2025-26 All-Conference squad.
